I use the tag “proana” because I know that’s what people like me will be searching.

I share diets on my blog because they’re for me. Just like the thinspo pictures.

General

  1. Make Rules For Yourself
  2. Drink a LOT of water
  3. Keep track of calories
  4. Sleep more
  5. Keep a list of safe foods and bad foods
  6. Use measuring tape more often than a scale
  7. Standing and Eating burns more calories
  8. Use small dark coloured plates
  9. Don’t take laxatives
  10. Keep Good Posture
  11. Have excuses ready
  12. Get yourself an ana friend
  13. Weigh yourself once a day in the morning
  14. Tie a piece of string around your waist and another for what you want your waist size to be, keep it on your wrists or ankles like a bracelet
  15. Set Goals For Yourself

Hiding Your Ed

  1. Chew Gum- Eating Disorders Give you bad breath
  2. Invest in good shampoo and conditioner
  3. Keep your nails painted
  4. Your skin will become dry, so be sure to use a lot of lotion where needed and take multivitamins
  5. At a certain weight you will lose your period, don’t tell anyone and have a believable date in your head in
    case you go to a doctor
  6. Your body will start to cover itself in fine hairs, to get rid of them simply shave, wax or use hair removal

  7. Dehydration speeds up tooth decay, because you won’t have enough protective enzymes in your mouth to prevent the saliva from doing damage to your teeth. Don’t restrict liquids.
  8. Dress warmly enough to keep warm without making it obvious.

Excuses:

  1. Say that you don’t like that particular food.
  2. You have a sore throat. (use wisely)
  3. Just say that you don’t feel well
  4. Say that you forgot your lunch. Be sure to disopse of it earlier in the day though.
  5. I already ate
  6. I can’t eat that it looks disgusting
  7. I have to do homework

Etc:

  1. Don’t eat dinner, then come down later and pretend to make some food
  2. Hide your food in a bag, pockets, etc
  3. Wake up late to skip breakfast
  4. Give out all your food at lunch
  5. The more that you insist that you’re fat, the more likey people are going to become suspicious.
  6. Your body often mistakes thirst for hunger. 
  7. The artificial sweeteners like those in diet soda have been shown in studies to promote the body storing belly fat. And some have been linked to brain tumors. 


When You’re Hungry

Avoiding Food

  1. Take Heart Burn Pills When You’re Super Super Hungry
  2. Hit The Lower Part Of Your Stomach If It’s Growling
  3. Coffee and Tea are your best friends
  4. Keep food out of sight
  5. Have excuses ready
  6. Find activities and say you ate there
  7. Dispose of foods that tempt you
  8. Dispose of foods you have hidden
  9. Check the fridge when nobody else is around. Find foods that you would have eaten and get rid of them.
  10. When you go out, take very little money or only enough to buy whatever non-food item you plan on buying. This will make it harder to buy food on impulse.
  11. Strip off naked in front of a mirror and look at yourself
  12. Chew on some ice
  13. Your body burns about 8 calories per glass of ice water trying to get it up to a temperature in which it can be processed

When Eating

  1. Eat Peppermint, It’s An Appetite Curber. It Does Have Cals Tho.
  2. Drink a LOT of water
  3. Avoid Oil and Butter
  4. Eat Denser Food
  5. Think before you eat
  6. Don’t eat distracted
  7. Never eat anything bigger then a cup
  8. Set a time you cant eat past or before
  9. Never eat in secret
  10. Drink water before eating
  11. Spicy foods raise metabolism 
  12. Never eat anything bigger than a cup
  13. Don’t eat a lot at once
  14. Chew your food more
  15. Only eat around other people
  16. Only eat until you’re satisfied 
  17. Every Calorie Counts, remove ingredients from recipes when you can
  18. Eat Veggies first, then protein, and lastly carbs
  19. Avoid Dairy when possible
  20. Drink a shot of apple cider vinegar before eating
  21. Never eat out of a box or jar
  22. Always order sauces on the side
  23. Avoid condiments if you can
  24. Find Low Cal Foods Your Enjoy
  25. Blotting greasy foods like bacon and pizza with a napkin can save you about 100 calories.
  26. Use baby utensils to prevent overeating

Cravings:

  1. Have a shower
  2. Do some exercise
  3. Go To bed early
  4. Drink warm water - it fills you up
  5. Watch America’s Next Top Model
  6. Look at thinspo
  7. Read Meanpso/sweetspo
  8. Listen to Ana music
  9. Read some ana quotes
  10. Read a book about anorexia
  11. Watch an anorexia documentary or movie on youtube
  12. Visit pro ana websites
  13. Eat some hot sauce
  14. It takes about 20 minutes for your body to feel full from the time that you first put a bite of food into your mouth.

Exercising

  1. Break your exercise up into smaller 5-15 minute blocks. It’s easier to stomach that way.
  2. Quietly exercise
  3. Exercise when you wake up at night
  4. Exercise in the shower
  5. Exercise before/after using the bathroom
  6. Endurance exercises should be done more
  7. As soon as you wake up in the morning workout for at least 30min to an hour. Studies show that working out in the morning has been shown to burn up to 3 times as more fat as opposed to working out at any other time during the day. 
  8. Walk 10,000 steps a day & lose an extra 10 pounds a year
  9. Before beginning to do any type of exercise the first thing you should do is warm yourself up. 
  10. Practicing Yoga positions is also a very healthy habit and helps in burning the extra fat.

ED’s are not romantic.

There is nothing romantic about anorexia. Anorexia is not a skinny girl with long hair, quietly refusing food at a party. Anorexia is pacing around the house at midnight, shoving a bagel down your throat because you’re so hungry and then crying because you ate.

There’s nothing glamorous about bulimia. Bulimia is not a gorgeous girl, leaning gently over a toilet bowl. It’s puke spraying out your nose and your mouth tasting like bile for hours and several teeth brushings.

I can’t speak for anorexia, but bulimia is a living hell and honestly more disgusting than you think. You think making yourself puke is gross? It gets worse. Imagine having toilet water splash onto your face, in your eyes, sometimes even your in your mouth everytime you purge. Think about the puke under your fingernails and in your hair. The smell of barf on you constantly- in your breath, your hands, your clothes, and hair. I’ve eaten food out of the garbage because I couldn’t stop from binging even after throwing away my binge food. I’ve puked in my front lawn, in a walgreens parking lot, in almost every restaurant bathroom, on my roof, out of windows, at school, at friends’ houses, my little cousins’ garbage can, walmart bathrooms…really anywhere I can. I’ve purged into my toilet and clogged it up so badly it overflowed- I spent hours crying and googling ways to unclog the toilet using the stuff in my tiny bathroom because if i opened the door someone might see what I did. Eventually I had to use my hands to scoop it out. I have spent thousands of dollars for binge food that I just threw up and cried about later on. And the worst part? I’m not skinny. I’m not in control. I’m not happy. I’m just bulimic.

Alright, we all fast. Some do it for 12 hours, some for 72 hours.

What happens when I fast?

First 3-6 hours:
-your body is using up all the sugar and carbs (glucose) in your body. You feel normal. It’s all good.

6-36 hours
-your body is now using fat cells (and will continue to do so after this point as well) but it’s not what your brain wants, so you might be craving foods like pasta and bread and very sweet things because your brain literally thrives on carbs and such

After 36 hours:
-your body is now using PROTEIN to get its energy, you might be experiencing muscle cramps because your body is breaking down muscles and fat to get the energy it needs.


Tips:
-drink water!! Not only does it keep you healthy but your body is losing a ton of water because carbohydrates cling to water, so when they’re being used, so is the water.

-drink 0 cal vitamin water. You need vitamins especially if you’re doing a particularly long fast. It keeps your brain healthy along with everything else.

-if you feel like you’re going to pass out, but do not want to eat, you may have low blood sugar. A spoon full of honey should help (or a small bottle of juice)

-after 36 hours of 0 cal fasting, if you still don’t want to break the fast, try doing a liquid one (so things like fruit juice, watered down tomato soup, almond milk etc)

-IF YOU ARE DRIVING DURING A FAST, DONT! Your reaction time, and overall reflexes/thought processes are hindered MAJORLY after about 15 hours.

-gum. sugar free gum is a life saver when cravings pop up (normally about 17 hours in for me)

-coffee/caffeine pills/diet pills are all great 0 cal appetite suppressants !

-0 cal sweeteners like Splenda can make water or green tea taste great.


After Fasting:

Your stomach should have shrank if you fasted more than 15 hours, so when breaking a fast:

-try something high carb, low cal, such as plain oatmeal (100) and half a banana with cinnamon (60)

-eat it slowly so that you have time to register that you’re full, a too full stomach after a fast hurts!

-then wait at least 3 hours before your next meal, which should include some protein

-make sure you don’t binge!!
